Evelyn Blackford Shute, 98, Crawfordsville and formerly of Waynetown died 5:15 a.m. Wednesday in Williamsburg Nursing Home, Crawfordsville.  Mrs. Shute taught home economics for 22 years at New Richmond, Wingate, Eaton, Ind and Crawfordsville high schools. She retired in 1949. Her memberships included: Waynetown Baptist Church, Eastern Star Waynetown Alamo, Montgomery County Historical Society, Old Jail Museum, Montgomery County Cultural Foundation, National and State Teacher's associations and Purdue Alumni Association. She was an active member in Waynetown Extension Homemakers, a charter member of Montgomery County Retired teachers and a 50-year-pin member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She taught Sunday School classes and held offices in Mission Society and ladies Aid.  She was graduated form Wayneton HS in 1923 and Purdue University in 1929.  She was born Sept 10, 1905 at Elmdale, ind, to Wlater NF and Maude A. Grubbs Blackford. She married Raymond H. Shute on July 24, 1948. He died July 20, 1975. Survivors include two daughter-in-laws, Judy Shute, Waynetown and Mary SHute, Plainfield; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One sister, Mary James, two stepsons, Edward and Robert Shute and one grandson, David Shute are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled 2 p.m. Saturday in Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 State Road 25 SOuth, Waynetown with Rev. Ron Raffignone officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.  Memorial may be made to Waynetown Baptist Mission Society or to an organization of the donor's choice.
